Week 6 | Day 5 – God Calls Us to Show Compassion (Little Honey)

In today’s Bible verse, Jesus tells a story about a man who was hurt and left on the road. Many people walked past him, but one man stopped. He noticed him. He cared. And he helped.

That man didn’t rush by or pretend he didn’t see the need. He slowed down and chose compassion.

Sometimes loving others doesn’t start with doing something big.

It starts with paying attention.

God helps us notice people who may feel lonely, left out, or in need of help.

When we slow down and look around, we may see opportunities to show kindness.

“But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.”

Luke 10:33–34

Who might God be asking you to show kindness to?

Today’s Truth:

God helps me notice others.

Sometimes people need help.

Sometimes people feel sad or lonely.

God helps me notice and care.

When I help someone, I am showing love.

Prayer:

Dear God, Help me notice others today.  Help me be kind and caring.  Amen.

Activity:

Go on a short “kindness lookout.”  Ask your child to notice one person today who might need help or encouragement and tell you what they noticed.

Optional Supplies or Resources: Bible, Journal

Looking Ahead:

Tomorrow, we’ll learn how love helps bring people together and why love is the bond that holds relationships strong.
