Week 6 | Day 5 – God Calls Us to Show Compassion (Rooted Honey)
In today’s Bible verse, Jesus tells a story about a man who was hurt and left on the road. Many people walked past him, but one man stopped. He noticed him. He cared. And he helped.
That man didn’t rush by or pretend he didn’t see the need. He slowed down and chose compassion.
Sometimes loving others doesn’t start with doing something big.
It starts with paying attention.
God helps us notice people who may feel lonely, left out, or in need of help.
When we slow down and look around, we may see opportunities to show kindness.
“But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.”
Luke 10:33–34
Who might God be asking you to show kindness to?
Today’s Truth:
Compassion requires awareness.
The Samaritan didn’t ignore the hurting man, he stopped and saw him.
Compassion often begins with awareness and a willingness to be interrupted.
God invites us to notice people others may overlook.
Prayer
Dear God, Help me slow down and notice others. Give me a compassionate heart that reflects Your love. Amen.
Reflect:
Why is it sometimes easier to walk past someone in need than to stop and help?
